A Blue Ridge Parkway Engagement Session: Mackie and Will
As a Photographer who loves the Blue Ridge Parkway, it’s one of my go to spots especially when my couples tell me they absolutely love mountains. When I asked Mackie and Will what they were most excited about for the wedding, one of those was that their venue had beautiful mountain views. So naturally, the Blue Ridge Parkway was the right choice.
As someone who frequents the Blue Ridge Parkway I understand that despite what the radar may say, rain and clouds are always a possibility. Especially in Western North Carolina so I was incredibly nervous for our session as the weather can always turn quickly.
Thankfully I couldn’t have ordered better weather for their session and we had an absolute blast. Bonus is that they hadn’t visited this part of the Blue Ridge Parkway yet and I love being able to take my couples on an adventure session!

What’s really important during any photo session is that everyone feels comfortable.
I know that being in front of a camera is stressful. Something I like to do at the very end is ask everyone to spend 15 seconds getting the jitters out. Best way to end the sunset and session 🙂

Make sure to always be on the look out for hikers and wildlife while driving on the parkway. Follow Leave No Trace while enjoying the natural beauty.
There are some really enjoyable overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Charlottesville, Virginia. We go often for a day hikes, picnics, or to look for migrating birds! We’ve scouted the best spots for Elopements and Engagement sessions too! Check out my other Blog posts to see more of the Parkway and beyond into Shenandoah National Park.
